A tumor grows when normal cells develop genetic mutations that disrupt their normal growth signals, causing them to divide uncontrollably, ignore programmed cell death, and accumulate into a mass, forming either non-cancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant) growths that can invade tissues and spread
